A pioneer in SSI since 2016, the Sovrin Foundation has grown into a strong global community. The Sovrin Ecosystem built around our MainNet counts more than 75 Stewards and a network of 10 governing councils with contributors from across the world, guided by an eight-member international Board of Trustees. We are looking forward to a community celebration of Sovrin’s achievements on realizing Identity for All, starting at the Annual General Meeting on September 16, 2021. Highlights will be our team results in technical governance and thought leadership that help bring self-sovereign identity (SSI) use cases into production for millions across the globe.
In this year of celebration, Sovrin leadership is internationalizing further. Line Kofoed, a Danish Sovrin Steward based in the Netherlands and key contributor in the Governance Framework Working Group, is now joining the Board as Secretary. Line is co-founder of Bloqzone and specialized in SSI-based identified communication tech. Secondly, we welcome Sovrin veteran and Ecosystem growth expert, UK-based Marta Piekarska-Geater, as our new Chair.
The Sovrin Foundation wishes to thank another Sovrin veteran, Chris Raczkowski, for four years of tireless support to bring SSI to market, including serving as Chair of the Board of Trustees and Executive Director of Sovrin during the past year. We especially acknowledge his driving force behind projects such as the collaboration agreement with the Trust over IP Foundation, a wide variety of new Sovrin business initiatives and his contributions to the Sovrin Governance Framework Working Group. Chris is moving forward to pursue his business activities in SSI and leaves the Board with the mission to support the growth of global enterprises dedicated to the Principles of SSI.
The Board of Trustees will continue to develop sustainable business models, grow the community with special focus on diversity and geographical decentralization and most importantly – overlook the stability and availability of the Sovrin MainNet.
