May 15, 2020
Over the past few years, the Sovrin community has been working on establishing a Steward Council to fortify the network and amplify the role of Stewards within Sovrin Foundation governance. We are excited to announce that the new Steward Council Charter has been approved by the Board of Trustees. We are now ready to activate the Council and invite all Stewards to participate in this important step forward for the Sovrin community.
The purpose of the Steward Council is to oversee the operation, availability, and security of the Sovrin Public Ledger. It is also to give voice to the interests, concerns, and expertise of Sovrin Stewards in the activities of the Sovrin Foundation, in the evolution of Sovrin infrastructure, and in the roles and responsibilities of the Stewards themselves.
An All-Steward Call will be scheduled for May 21, 2020 to present the charter and discuss the process to activate the Steward Council. The first step will be for Stewards to nominate Council candidates including a Council Chair. The newly elected Chair will immediately join the Sovrin Foundation Board of Trustees as an ex officio member. Detailed rules around the nomination of members can be found in the Steward Council Charter.
The nomination process will start immediately after the All-Steward Call on May 21st and will be open for one week. Voting will commence during the week. Final voting results will be announced on another All-Steward Call. Newly elected Steward Council members will hold their inaugural meeting during the first week of June 2020.
We invite all Sovrin Stewards to join us on the next All-Steward Call to learn more about this exciting opportunity.« The Creation of the Trust over IP (ToIP) Foundation The Sovrin Foundation Announces Formation of a New Board of Trustees »
