Sovrin welcomes Bluenumber as new steward

December 16, 2021

Salt Lake City, UT, [December 16 2021}—The Sovrin Foundation welcomes Bluenumber as the newest Steward of the Sovrin Network. They join more than  50 other organizations which volunteer their resources in support of the network’s mission and operation.

“Sovrin is excited to enhance it’s vibrant and growing SSI ecosystem in the Global South. We welcome Bluenumber, an organization moving digital ID and data exchange into domains such as agriculture, as a new Steward.” said Chair of Sovrin Foundation’s Board of Trustees, Stephen Curran.

Bluenumber is a New York 501c3 and Delaware Public Benefit Corp offering digital identity. Bluenumber lets individuals create wealth from their data and ensure consent so businesses and other organizations may use data individuals create. Bluenumber is a standardized, secure, open infrastructure for service providers and verified users to engage transparently. The Bluenumber platform offers free, standard, shareable digital identity to networks of farmers, workers and companies in Japan, Bangladesh, Malaysia, India and the US. Bluenumber focuses on the Global South and aims to provide SSI as a basic need for people who do not enjoy the benefits that verifiable identity can offer. Bluenumber is a rights-based organization promoting digital equality and data equity.

“SSI must be the basis of any society that respects individual rights, counts on willing participation in functioning democracy and values identity and data rights  at the core of economic growth. We hope our contribution to the Sovrin community helps this happen.” said Dr Puvan J. Selvanathan, founder and CEO of Bluenumber.
