The Sovrin Foundation is a 501 (c)(4) nonprofit organization established to administer the Trust Framework governing the Sovrin Network, a public service utility enabling self-sovereign identity on the internet. The Sovrin Foundation is an independent organization that is responsible for ensuring the Sovrin identity system is public and globally accessible.

The elected Sovrin Board of Trustees is composed of representatives of those people and organizations who own identities on the Sovrin Network.

Technical Governance Board
A Technical Governance Board oversees the evolution of the open source code run by each node. The Technical Governance Board (TGB) is responsible for governing the design, architecture, implementation, and operation of the Sovrin identity network as a global public utility for self-sovereign identity. The TGB charter has more details on how it accomplishes this mission. A key task of the TGB is to review the technical qualifications of Steward candidates.

The Sovrin Alliance is a way for individuals and organizations to get involved with The Sovrin Foundation's mission of providing self-sovereign identity for all.
Members of The Sovrin Alliance have special access to resources and development activities that create value within the Sovrin ecosystem. Alliance efforts will promote Sovrin education, collaboration, governance, transparency, and protocol development.
